I like most of these old trends (recommended by HGTV.com), including transom windows, pocket doors, built ins, and separate kitchens. Fireplaces in every room--not so much. Just not practical. Which of these would you like to put in your home? Bring these details back.

Imaginative and beautiful--and sloppy--book storage ideas from HGTV. com. That large and opulent library is beautiful, and the books displayed on the wall surrounding the big screen TV is a clever idea. However, the books dumped in the fireplace is not attractive, to say the least, and it reminds me of the scene in Day After Tomorrow where they throw books from the library into the fireplace to keep warm. This is one of the reasons we go to school and study physics. You have to create a surface to make a fire that lasts. (Also, you need dry wood and kindling--if you're outdoors. And read Jack London's To Build a Fire for other useful tips.) In the meantime, look here for ideas you can use: Beautiful Bookcases.
