TD 16/TS Ophelia

TD 16 will probably become Tropical Storm Ophelia tomorrow and possibly a hurricane Thursday.  There's already a Tropical Storm warning and watch up for Florida's east coast.  The computer models show it going west, north, or east.

Hi Joy-- I thought this would amuse you....

We're already up to Tropical Storm Ophelia, which is dumping a lot of rain on my house in Boca Raton, and it's just the beginning of September. There are only six names left to use as we move into the heaviest part of hurricane season.

My understanding is that if they run though the entire list of names, they start using the names of greek letters. Tropical Storm Alpha, etc.

Paul beat me to it. As my wife works for the NWS, I had occasion to be informed of this some time ago.

Unmarried men would be surprised to learn how much you can find out from your wives without having to ask.

McGehee: Unmarried men usually call that information volunteered from wives "nagging."

In fact, so do married men.

But not to our wives' faces.

Thanks!  I never really thought we'd run out of names...
